About Nagasaki Goto
Greetings
We aim to bring happiness to as many people as possible through delicious "food" from Goto, Nagasaki, as a representative company that energizes Japan from the local level, with the slogan "We want to deliver deliciousness from Goto."
As you know, Japan is experiencing an unprecedented speed of declining birth rates and an aging population, leading to a natural decrease in population. Particularly in rural areas, the outflow of population to metropolitan areas has become a significant issue, with approximately 900 municipalities identified as potentially disappearing. Under the banner of "regional revitalization," the national and local governments are undertaking various initiatives, but clear patterns of significant success have yet to emerge.
Nagasaki Prefecture's Goto City, being an isolated island, has many young people who have no choice but to leave the island for further education or employment, resulting in a faster decline in population compared to other municipalities.
In such a situation, the aforementioned slogan embodies the following sentiments: We want people across Japan to recognize the charm of Goto Islands through the deliciousness of the "food" we create, and we hope to spark their interest in Goto. Furthermore, we wish to see an increase in tourism and new residents in Goto. Ultimately, we aspire to become a representative model of a company that revitalizes Japan from the regions, and we want many people to understand that "regional revitalization" is possible even for private enterprises in local areas.
All of our employees will work hard to achieve the goals embodied in our slogan.
I am originally from Kobe, and my professional life has been in Tokyo, so I was not originally connected to Goto. Now, after living in Goto for about 8 years, I have come to realize the potential that the island holds. Of course, there are challenges unique to remote islands, but there is even more charm in Nagasaki Goto. Delicious ingredients, rich nature, warm people, many historical buildings such as churches, the most beautiful sea in Japan, a starry sky full of stars, and sunsets that never sink.
We will take advantage of the many possibilities and challenge ourselves to do things that can only be done on Goto.
We would appreciate your support and guidance.
